Jánwu Sítʼi (Mountain Goat Glacier) also known as the Denver Glacier Trail- Tongass National Forest
The trail to Jánwu Sítʼi, also known as the Denver Glacier Trail is a 6.4 mile round trip hike. The trailhead is located 5.5 miles north of Skagway and can be reached easily from the White Pass and Yukon Pass Railroad from May to September. The forest surrounding this trail demonstrates a range of conditions, from lush old-growth spruce and hemlocks trees characteristic of the Tongass National Forest’s temperate rainforests to younger vegetation forming along the retreat of the glacier. At the trailhead hikers pass a 1960s red caboose that has been converted into a basic cabin and is available for rent through the US Forest Service.
