Robinson Preserve Old-Growth Mangrove Forest
The first survey of this area of Florida, from 1885, notes the presence of this mangrove forest. Comprised of 285 acres, this beautiful, virgin stand of mangroves on the shore of Perico Bayou has never been disturbed - with the exception of some ditching. The dominant tree species are red mangrove, (Rhizophora mangle) and black mangrove (Avicennia germinans). A trail along the shore allows visitors to experience the ancient mangroves.
