Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
Kennesaw Mountain NBP, which is located on a portion of the ancestral homelands of the Cherokee people, preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. The forests of Kennesaw Mountain have remained largely undisturbed since the conclusion of the Civil War and are now protected by the policies of the National Park Service. These forests are primarily loblolly pine and mixed hardwoods such as oak, hickory, and beech, once common throughout the Piedmont. Many miles of trails wind through the park and are beloved by locals for recreation.
