Pearman Forest at the LaRue County Environmental Education and Research Center
The 80-acre Pearman Forest at the LaRue County Environmental Education & Research Center is on the lands of the former Pearman family property.
The forested areas are best known for old-growth sections that contains trees over 150 years of age. The dominant wooded section is broken into two conjoined sections designated as the 30-acre Woods #1 and the 50-acre Woods #2.
White oak is the dominant species in each of these forests, that contain over 25 tree species, including ash, hickory, redbud, and holly. A series of natural surface walking trails carry visitors through both of the highly mature forests.
