Schoolhouse Woods - Wye Island Natural Resources Management Area
On the entire Eastern Shore a total of 19.4 acres of state land have been identified as "old-growth". This forest, with 14.4 acres, comprises the majority of that acreage. Although the site is small there are beautiful ancient oaks, tuliptrees, beech, holly and pines. The oldest trees are estimated to be over 200 years old.
