Pilgrim River Community Forest
276-acre hardwood forest close to Michigan Tech University. The forest is owned by the Keweenaw Land Trust, which with numerous conservation partners worked with a conservation minded land owner who had purchased the whole 1400 acres, of which the adjoining acreage is now in a Forest Legacy easement with the state of Michigan and the conservation owner. It is primarily a hardwood forest with many mature trees and great topography with numerous streams feeding the Pilgrim River only a few miles from Lake Superior. The Pilgrim River has Coaster Brook trout and is a prized fishing river.
