Southwestern Woodlands, “Quaker Corner”–
Sylvester Manor Forest
Sixteen acres of the Sylvester Manor Southwestern Woodland is permanently protected, within approximately 40 forested acres on either side of the main entry drive into Sylvester Manor. A 2013 Forest Management Plan identified the Oak/Hickory/Pine woodlands as ‘mature to over mature’, aged 70-120 years. This forest is a remnant of lands held by eleven generations of one family of European descent from 1651 to 2014, following millennia of habitation by indigenous Manhansett people.
