New Forest in the Golden State

On August 12, 2022, we dedicated Valley Creek Botanical Special Interest Area in the Plumas National Forest to the Old-Growth Forest Network. Located in Plumas County, California, Valley Creek is a 303-acre stretch of prime late successional mixed-conifer forest of predominately sugar pine and Douglas fir. Some trees are as old as 435 years old! Thank you to Southwest Regional Manager, Noelle Collins, Friends of Plumas Wilderness, and the U.S. Forest Service for helping make this dedication a reality.
