Davey Woods State Nature Preserve
This mature mixed mesophytic forest woodland has numerous large tulip trees, sugar maple, ash and oak as well as an excellent array of spring wildflowers. The preserve is a total of 103 acres with approximately 90 acres being old-growth. Of these large trees, some of the tulip trees sampled were noted to be 145 years old and one of the larger red oak sampled were 111 years old. The rolling topography of this site is indicative of glacial moraine deposited after the last glacial event.
