Routzong Preserve
The 55 acre preserve contains hardwood and understory trees that date to over 100 years old. Red elm, buckeye, and oak are prominent species, while the areas in lower elevations contain sycamore and American beech. The understory consists of spicebush with a significant presence of pawpaw trees. The Preserve grew to its current acreage after an initial donation of 33 acres by Ron and Betty Johnson, Darke County residents. A 1.5 mile trail winds through the forested areas.
