Powdermill Nature Reserve

This forest is mature second-growth. The 2,000-acre reserve contains sugar maple, beech, black cherry, tulip poplar, cucumber magnolia, hop-hornbeam, hemlock, many types of oaks, and more! Birds, chipmunks, snakes, and toads may entertain you on your visit. Bobcats, bears, and fishers live here too, although you are unlikely to see them. Scientists use many of the areas for research, but the Sugar Camp Trail and Porcupine Ridge Trail are for education and enjoyment, and portions of these trails include trees in excess of 150 years old.
