Herbert and Gloria Jones Woodlands
Mature forest, with approximately two acres of old-growth and two small forest openings. Approximately 60 acres of the 65.14 total acreage is mature forest that will soon reach old-growth status. There are cove hardwood stands (Yellow Poplar, Northern Red Oak, Beech, Basswood, Cucumber Tree, Black Gum, Black Walnut, Sycamore), Mesic Oak-Hickory stands (Northern Red Oak, White Oak, Black Oak, Beech, variety of Hickories), and Xeric Oak stands (Chestnut Oak, Scarlet Oak, Black Oak, Shortleaf Pine, Pignut Hickory). The 2-acre old-growth tract is dominated by cove hardwoods, with the oldest being approximately 200-230 years old.
