Vizcaya’s Rockland Hammock

Vizcaya's Rockland Hammock is located on the grounds of the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The forest is approximately 15 acres of mostly untouched old-growth forest. It is the largest remaining portion of the Brickell Hammock, an extensive rockland hammock forest. There are several national champion trees in the forest, and several specimens are over 300 years old. The forest is the only remnant with a dominant and expanding population of Redberry Stopper, an important and critically endangered climax species.
